Thank you for your kind comments about Dad.

We are off to see our first nursing home today, my old work place - should be interesting.

So the decision has been made.
Dad won't be going home.
We have to start looking at nursing homes.
It's OK, it's the best decision, it stinks but it's OK.

Just wanted to share this post of Donna's with you.

Thought you might find it interesting, especially Donna's question

"how you think you are different or the same to your 50’s counterpart?"

Just to let you know, I am having a Facebook give away. I know... I have gone Facebook crazy but you can share in the madness too.

Anyway, when I get to 300 fans I will be giving away a cushion doll like the one in the picture.
To be in the running you just have to 'like' my little jenny wren dolls page

I think I am currently on 256 so there is a ways to go but if we get there before early December the doll might get to where it's going before Christmas.

roses on the Arc de Stephan

So it has been a week of lots of doll making, patchy internet connection and crashing computer.

new Belle and Boo

Dad has had a good week, much brighter and a little more active but big decisions have to be made soon.

A pretty armless bunch

Louis went back to Hobart.

the red phone

Andy finished his exams, finished school...all done, finito.

rainbow wool

Today, his first day of freedom, he has been a lazy log.

Lucie

Kate has decided she would like a piglet for Christmas... never give an animal loving child the World Vision Smiles Christmas catalogue to look through.
I think giving a family a little pink piglet will be as close as she gets to  piglet cuteness this Christmas.
But that donkey looks mighty cute.

Stephen lost at Wednesday tennis again, for about the twentieth time in a row.

And as I said I have been making dolls
and thinking dolls
and planning dolls
and packing dolls
and posting dolls
and hoping someone else will make tea
or sweep the floor
or bring in the washing
and I have now been rewarded with a slave in the form of Andy who has been allowed one lazy log day
but that is it my boy.

Monday is Washing Day

Glorious spring weather today...had the day all planned...get the washing on the line...make dolls...visit Dad after tea

Rang Mum and organised to go  to the hospital at lunch time with her  instead... she sounded so tired, so fragile.

Had a really nice visit with dad...sat in the sunshine...he was relaxed after his lunch but terribly tired...chatted with mum, dad joined in every now and then.

Mum came back to my house...we had chocolate biscuits and coffee and talked and talked...she left relaxed and revitalised

The dolls weren't finished but I enjoyed working on them... the washing was done... hung on the line....dried and folded and put away...most important of all I think Mum's load was lightened a little just by having the chance to have a good chat, something I had been denying her over the past week and I think too she is starting to shift in her thoughts to a slightly different place, perhaps beginning to understand a little better what is going on with Dad .

I know I feel better too... sometimes you just have to give someone, and yourself, a space and place to just be and sit a while.

On Tuesday morning, right after everyone goes to school, work and exams I will be putting some boy dolls in the shop

I don't have pictures of them yet because they are naked but I will try to put up some pictures late tomorrow.

And I must say a big thank you for all the lovely comments you have left  over at {KID}independent.

Thank you so much.

Sweet Julia

P1070791

This morning, because I only have three trillion things to do,I sewed up a little doll that I knitted some time last week and gave it to sweet Julia.

And then because she looked so sweet I had to take her picture.

Julia is a doll that I made about 18 months ago, to sell at the Niche Market. She was much admired but didn't sell so I popped her into the Etsy shop where she sold straight away.

Through a strange set of circumstances she has come back to me, she has been 'rehomed' I guess. I was so happy to see her again. Most of my dolls I am happy to send off to their new homes, Julia I wanted to keep but didn't... she came home anyway.

Oh, and by the way, if you are in Tassie, the Niche Market is on tonight and tomorrow at the Tramsheds, Inveresk. I won't be there as a seller but I will be there to see what everyone has med and to pick up my prize.

Joyful Chaos

Amish Clothesline

Last week, the lovely Tanya, shared a list of her favourite blogs and I was quietly thrilled to be included.
It's always nice to get a little unsolicited compliment.

The very best thing about Tanya's list though was her link to Maryann's blog, A Joyful Chaos which tells not only a little of her day to day life but also, and most deliciously, talks candidly about her Amish childhood.

Amish Man and Daughter

I have been sneaking moments here and there to read her posts, each one a little gem.

Amish Girls

I have gone scurrying to my Amish cookbooks with their wonderful photography  and skimmed and dipped into the vast ocean of Flickr to enjoy even more.

An Amish family on a Morning Stroll

These people seem to hold an endless fascination for so many, me included I guess.

Amish Sisters, Barefoot, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

All today's pictures come from the generous Flickr members who happily share their work. Click on the picture to see the original.
There are many many pictures of the Amish and their farms and buggies and the whole shebang on Flickr
