Gifts received and a gift for you

29 Oct 2008

wagtail wool

I have been blessed with some lovely and unexpected gifts lately.

Some weeks ago I ordered some yarn to use for doll hair from a new ( to me) supplier, Wagtail Yarns in Queensland. There was a problem with my order and when the wool finally arrived Gaylene had added FOUR extra yarn samples for me.
So kind.

I am using one of the gifts, the orange sample for the hair for my latest doll. The yarn is 80% fine mohair and 20% merino. They grow, process and dye the yarn on their own Angora goat farm.
Can you imagine how cute an Angora goat farm would be?

Then last week I received a beautiful big box of stationary from Candyce. Kate was very quick to organise it all, hand made cards and other beautiful decorated cards and notepaper and whisked it all into the big Golden box where we keep our stores of cards and paper.
We each adopted a writing pad; mine with dolls and Kate's with cats to write messages to ourselves.

I keep mine near my work area to capture dolly ideas...

and Kate is using hers to help her organise her hectic social life, at the moment organising what she needs to pack for her trip away this weekend.

So thank you Candyce, such a generous and thoughtful gift.

kate's rose garden

Another gift that is just beginning to make its presence ( ha ha ) felt is the armful of rose bushes that my brother and his family gave me for my birthday.
They are planted outside Kate's bedroom window as you can see and they are all now fully clothed with leaves and some are starting to get buds.
The poppies and whatever other seeds ( I can't remember, it will be a surprise) I sprinkled on the ground under them are also up and doing their best.
I'm just giving them a watering this morning to help them on their way.

tilda dolls

So, in the spirit of gifting and because I need a break from making my playdolls I am going to make one of these Tilda dolls from my Tilda Christmas book and give her away to one of you, my faithful readers who give me so much just by taking the time to read my incessant ravings.

Your comments and emails are always so welcome, the time you take just to drop by and read what I have to say is always appreciated.

So leave a comment, readers old and new and I'll draw a winner on November 1st
( my time).

THE GIVE AWAY IS NOW CLOSED

  28. Good evening Jenny
It sounds like you are having your birthday all over again.
A girlfriend bought the Tilda Christmas book last weekend at a quilt show we went to, we just drooled over the lovely photos & projects in the book. ( I had already bought fabric, so I cannot justify buying the book at that time, maybe I will source this book and wrap it up for my husband to give to me for Christmas! Thus saving him the ordeal of facing the Xmas crowd!)
Please place me in your draw.

  54. Jenny, your extra yarns are beautiful. What a blessing! I just wanted to tell you that I adore the Tilda dolls. I love how slim they are and that they stand on pointed toes. They remind me very much of the doll you sent me a couple of months ago. My Jenny is now sitting on my bookshelf low enough for my dog Alice to look at her every day. We both like her a lot.

Please don't enter me in your draw. I look forward to seeing the Tilda when she's finished. Take care, love.

How very sweet of you to go right on ahead and dub on someone else--likewise very beautiful (and so nice). *If* I win the Tilda doll, do you think *you* could bring her right on over? Mind you, don't exclude me from the drawing just because you can't, *if* you can't, okay. Wishing you soft sunshine, and peaceful, happy moments while your nimble, loving fingers are busy bringing Tilda *to life*. xo Jewels (xo to sweet Katie, too)

  89. What a beautiful blog spot you have. I have just discovered you from Rhonda at down to earth. Your dolls are wonderful. I have been reading some of your older posts and have been inspired so much. I am a stay at home mum of a 2 year old little girl named Jessie. I have only just begun to appreciate that the work I do at home is important. I take pride in making our home a real home, even such tasks as making the bed, ironing, washing etc. I know my family does appreciate it. I have also been interested in Steiner education for a while now and hope to send my daughter to a steiner school in the future. I think it is important for toys to be made from natural materials. I have asked family this year for christmas to make something for Jessie instead of buying more plastic battery powered toys.
Thankyou for inspiring me with your lovely blog spot. I will be back to read lots more.
I would love to win one of your dolls.
    Take care and God bless

I just posted a comment but I only signed up for a blogger idenity yesterday, and had trouble with the password, so I put the comment under anonymous. Not that it makes alot of difference but I just worked out what I did wrong. So after all that I got it working. So hopefully this one will go under my new idenity, much better than anonymous!!
